Selection Process

The selection process is slightly different from the usual written-exam-first pattern.

Selection Stages:-

Application Screening → Trade Test → Written Examination → Final Merit

First, applications are screened by CSIR. Shortlisted candidates are called for a Trade Test, which is qualifying in nature. Candidates who clear the Trade Test then appear for the competitive written examination.

The final merit list is prepared from the marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Exam Pattern

The written examination can be conducted in OMR-based or Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

There will be 150 questions and the total examination time is 2 hours 30 minutes. Questions are generally set in English and Hindi, except the English Language section.
